Coffingly Delightful Grab Bags

If you have ever read my work before, you probably know that I love grab bags, I try to do one for Halloween for my children’s classes and I always try to do another one for Christmas; again for my kid’s classes. They are fun, usually tons of work, because who are we kidding, when you are up until 3 in the morning doing a craft for your kid’s school, it is a lot of work, and completely worth it.

This year, I made a few changes to my grab bags and incorporated a wonderful coffin card to the front of the grab bag so this year, you can creep up your Halloween grab bags with a coffingly delightful grab bag.

What you need:

• Green, Black, orange and White Cardstock (or play with the colors; something that fits Halloween)
• Black Stamp Ink
• White Craft Ink
• Halloween Stamps (I used Stampin’ Up Booglie Eyes, Autumn Harvest and Halloween Backgrounds)
• Straight-edged cutter
• Scissors
• Glue Stick
• Sandwich Bags
• Markers or Pencil Crayons
• Silver Marker
• Candy and other goodies
• Print outs

Directions:

1. Print out the guides that are provided with this article. The main grab bag backer is in the dimensions of 7¾ inches by 3 inches.
2. Cut the cardstock with either the guides or by measuring the rectangles and coffin measurements. The backing should be in the ghoulish green, the little tags should be in pumpkin orange and white and the coffin should be in the black. To cut out the coffin, fold a sheet of cardstock in half. Line up the paper so the long edge of the coffin is on the fold. Cut out the rest of the coffin but do not cut along the fold. This will give you your card.
3. Place the coffin to the side as well as the tags. Stamp the background image on the green cardstock using the black ink. Make sure you cover the complete card before you fold it in half, at the 1.5 inch mark on the card, with the images on the outside.
4. Once the images are stamped on the green cardstock, place to the side and stamp the images on the tags. Color in any images that need to be colored.
5. Now you can work on the coffin card. Stamp spooky images on the front of the card with white craft ink. In my example I stamped bats on the outside.
6. Open the card and stamp a Halloween message to the right side of the card.
7. Around the image and on the left inside of the card, stamp more Halloween images with the white craft ink. I used the pumpkin face from Stampin Up’s Autumn Harvest.
8. To add a coffingly delightful touch to the coffin and backing, edge the cardstock with the ink. To do this, open the ink pad, such as the white for the coffin, and then scrape the ink pad along the edge of the cardstock. This adds just the right amount of ink to the card edge. Do the green with black ink and the black with white ink.
9. Glue the tags together so they are splayed apart and glue them onto the center of the coffin card.
10. Attach the coffin card to the center of the folded green cardstock.
11. With the silver pen, finish the card off by writing a spooky Halloween message on the front of the card. I used “Keep Out!” to add to the frightful feeling.
12. Fill the sandwich bags with candy and other goodies and close. I prefer to use Ziplock sandwich bags since they close securely.
13. Fold the green card back over the sandwich bag and then staple to secure on both sides of the card.

After that point, all you need to do is send them off to your children’s class, or hand them out on Halloween, stored inside our beautiful Ghoulishly Frightful Candy Bowls, and you are done.
